What We Do
We seek to fulfill our mission by:
- Working with willing landowners to identify and conserve tracts of land throughout the Blue Hill Peninsula that have special conservation values.
- Using a variety of real estate tools to accomplish our conservation goals, including acquiring ownership of land through gifts or purchases and holding conservation easements (permanent restrictions on the future use of property) on privately owned lands.
- Managing the lands we own so as to protect their conservation values.
- Maintaining relationships with the owners of the privately owned lands on which we hold conservation easements, and monitoring regularly the use of those lands, and when necessary, enforcing the legally binding use restrictions contained in those conservation easements.
- Providing low impact, outdoor recreational opportunities on the lands we own.
- Providing educational programs for our members as well as the larger community.
- Providing volunteer opportunities of various kinds for all ages.
- Working with partners on various community projects of mutual interest.
- Publishing a newsletter twice a year.
