2007 Summer Trail Intern

Job Description

Job Term: This is a part-time summer position. 20-30 hours per week over 8-10 weeks (depending on funding).

Job Requirements:The ideal candidate would be a college student or graduating high school senior with local roots, outdoor skills and interests, work and leadership experience, and a demonstrated interest in land conservation, outdoor recreation, and community development.

Job Duties: The position will include the following responsibilities:
1) Help construct and maintain hiking trails on our conservation properties.
2) Provide leadership for volunteer trail crews.
3) Organize several outreach events to help introduce community members to trails.
4) Install and maintain signs and kiosks.
5) Assist with other aspects of the Trust’s work as requested.
6) Represent the Trust in a positive light in all encounters with the public.

Compensation: Stipend based on experience, flexible schedule, satisfaction of contributing daily to a great cause as part of a small but ambitious community based organization.

Blue Hill Heritage Trust is a community-based, non-profit, conservation organization dedicated to conserving the special land and water resources on the Blue Hill Peninsula. Founded in 1985 by local residents, today the Trust has approximately 500 members whose annual financial contributions support its work. The Trust currently owns approximately 1600 acres of conservation land and oversees conservation restrictions on over 3100 acres of privately owned land. The organization is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and relies on volunteers to assist the organization in advancing its mission. The organization is managed by a full-time Executive Director. The staff also includes a full-time Conservation Lands Manager and a part-time Program Assistant.
