AB Herrick Memorial Landing on Peter’s Cove

Blue Hill Heritage Trust owns a small shorefront lot between the East Blue Hill Road and Peters Cove. Though less than an acre, this property provides an historic public access point to the waters of Blue Hill Bay on Peters Cove. The landing is a combination of sandy beach and rocky shoreline and is suitable for launching kayaks or other small boats that can be carried down to the water.

Peter’s Brook Trail

Peters Brook and its associated branches drain the uplands east of the village of Blue Hill into Peters Cove, which is part of Blue Hill Bay. The Peter’s Brook Trailhead is located on the opposite side of the street and across the stream from the AB Herrick Memorial Landing. The half-mile trail runs alongside the lowermost section of Big Peter’s Brook which features steep grades, creating numerous drops and pool, ending in a waterfall.

Please note: This trail crosses privately-owned land, protected by conservation easements. Public access is made possible by the generosity of the landowner. Please take extra care to stay on marked trails and leave the land as you found it.

Location and Parking: These properties are located on the East Blue Hill Road just 0.6 mile from its intersection with Rte. 172 in Blue Hill. Park at the AB Herrick Memorial Landing.
